Yoga Etiquette
Please follow these simple suggestions – they are designed to help all of us get the best experience form the studio and are in no way designed to limit or inhibit your personal experience.
- arrive on time – we close the main doors when class starts - allow for traffic etc – one person entering a class late disturbs the whole room
- if the white doors are closed – the class has started – refrain from using the doorbell or constantly knocking on the door – no late entries – no exceptions
- shoes stay at reception on the glass shelves to the right of you as you enter the main door – wash your feet if necessary
- cell phones on silent – if you need to make a call please use the shoe area or step outside the main doors
- feel free to shower before class – if you have had a long day this will help revive you and create a clean break between the day and your practice
- avoid perfumes, deodorants, lotions, creams etc – if you are a smoker please brush your teeth and change your clothing – there’s lots of deep breathing!
- to ensure everyone has space and can see the mirrors, place your mat in line with the blue led’s in the floor, the front center of your mat lines up with the led.
- observe silence inside the studio – for most of this is the only time we experience this during our day – make the most of it
- during the practice be mindful of your fellow students – if you choose not to take part in a posture, be still and observe
- stay in the room for the whole class – if you need to leave, do so in-between postures – when you re-enter wait until postures are completed
- wear appropriate clothing – avoid garments that need constant adjustment
- if you have long hair – tie your hair so that it stays fixed for the whole class
